Section outline

  • A leadership development pathway for young people already part of Network Youth Church, growing volunteer young leaders from within rather than recruiting them in. It runs at two levels: level one as a first step in local leadership, and level two as a fuller commitment with more responsibility. The pilot year concluded with Bishop Rob authorising 17 new young leaders.

    Who it is for

    Young people in Network Youth Church, and young volunteers in parish youth work, who are ready to take on leadership. Level one is the entry point; level two follows for those going further.

    How it runs

    A programme of training, mentoring and practical leadership within a young person's own youth church or parish, ending in authorisation by the Bishop. It includes a Welcome Weekend and a youth resource pack. The pathway was piloted with support from a national Racial and Ministerial Formation grant and refreshed for relaunch.

    Across the diocese through Network Youth Church. The September 2026 intake is open, with a target of 12 to 15 new volunteer leaders.

    Public sign-up route, age range, and how parental consent and safeguarding checks are handled all need confirming with the Growing Younger Enabler for Youth. Accounts for under-18s are also with the DPO and Safeguarding.
